TAGER Project – what is it about?

Recommended Posts

Tager is the equipment for a tactical game of the next generation. The game imitates armed combat. The objective of the game is to defeat the rival using a special light blaster, while at the same time avoid getting defeated.

You love playing laser tag, yet you are not really fond of club games. Your friends are willing to take you on, yet the nearest club is hundreds of miles away. If any of the above is your case, then TAGER is exactly what you need! Gather your friends together and organize a laser tag club at your home – TAGER will make a basis of your home club.

Are you searching for a gift for kids? Don’t know how to surprise them? TAGER will make an excellent gift!

Inside a nicely designed package you will find a flashbang rifle and a headband with defeat sensors. That is just enough for one player. A few TAGER sets will form a home laser tag club – no additional equipment required. A common Android smartphone with a special application installed on it will work well as a control centre. Download the TAGER application from Google Play and install it on your smartphone in order to be able to set up parameters on play sets, to choose scenarios, game rounds duration, to divide players into teams, and, essentially, keep record of statistics! There won’t be any unwanted arguments about whether someone has been hit or not, won or lost. The sensitive electronics will take on the role of an arbitrator and will help you avoid disagreements with your team mates.

So, what is TAGER made from?

A TAGER set is packed inside a colourful box with a brief game description and a scheme of the main elements of the play set. Inside the box you will find a light rifle, a headband with sensors, a set of batteries, a user’s manual and a description of scenarios. The configurator application can be downloaded from Google Play.

The Tager light rifle (further on - tager) is based on an AK-12LT laser tag sub-machine gun and has a very similar outer design. Nevertheless, the former has a number of constructive differences:

1. To turn the tager on, one needs to push the on/off button and hold it for some time (which is different from the way a Predator is turned on – by means of an activation key). To turn it off, use the same button. Alternatively, it will turn on automatically when the headband is off.

2. The connection between a tager and a headband is controlled by the latter.

3. For the play set, alkaline batteries must be used – this is more convenient for use in home conditions. Anyway, AA batteries can be used instead.

4. No PC, remotes or bases are required for changing play set parameters - a common smartphone will do.

5. Although these devices are very much alike, a Tager is different from a Predator. They don’t share many common features, if at all.

Using your TAGER

Call your friends willing to fight with you, take your tagers with you and find some cool place for a game.

Now, you will need to select game settings for teams and for blasters. This can be done using your Android smartphone through a TAGER application installed on it. Download the app from Google Play, install it and launch it.

This is the main menu of the application. First, we need to set up players’ parameters.

Parameters set-up

In the TAGER play set, the headband performs all the control functions. Its functions include storage of settings and statistics processing.

To set up parameters, turn on the headband and select the settings mode for it. To activate the headband, push the on/off button and hold it for about 2 seconds. Upon that, the headband will produce a sound signal and a green LED on the control unit will start flashing. The headband in on now. Next, select the settings mode by pushing the button three times briefly. The colour of the control unit LED will change to blue. The headband will produce intermittent sound, light and vibro signals to indicate that it is in the settings mode.

In the main program menu on your phone screen, click on the Service icon and enter the service menu.

The icon on the right-hand side is used for updating the firmware of the headband and the tager only when necessary. It must not be used on a day-to-day basis.

Select the Tager set up icon on the left-hand side and the application will search for any headbands located nearby over Bluetooth. The search results will be displayed in the application window.

Select the character whose settings need to be changed and click on his icon. The player’s settings window will open.

To identify a player, enter his e-mail address. Adjust the speaker volume on his tager and vibration time after the player’s “death”. To save the parameters, push the green button. During the process of sending the parameters, a window will pop up. Enter the password for the Bluetooth device in the window. The headband default password is “1234".

As soon as the parameters have been sent, you can choose a game.

Game parameters set-up

In the main application menu, click on the New game icon to enter the scenario selection menu of a game.

New game scenarios are constantly added along with application updates. After you have selected one of the available scenarios, click on Continue.

Now you have to choose a location where the game will be held -–Home, Home and outside, Outside. Depending on what settings have been selected, the program will automatically choose the optimal power parameters for the blasters which will ensure the maximum firing distance without ricochets.

Let’s set up round time in minutes.

As well as time delay before the start of a game, which will allow players to take up ready positions.

The automatic revival time of players varies between 3 and 150 seconds or can be turned off altogether.

Then, the program will search for the headbands of the prospective players. The headbands must be in the settings mode. The players that come up in search results will be divided by clicking on their user pictures and selecting the team colour.

Save the chosen parameters on the headbands and remember to enter the password “1234”.

You can start the game now.

Game start

To start a game, you do not need an instructor with a remote who activates players like in a club game – play sets can be used immediately on activation.

To start a game, players turn on their headbands and taggers one by one. In the process of synchronizing of headbands and taggers the indicators will glow and sound messages will be produced. Take your ready position -–the game has started!

The duration of a game is determined by game settings or you can end the game whenever you wish.

Collecting statistics

The electronics of play sets will rule out any cheating and will make precise calculations of the number of hits everyone receives. The main condition is: the statistical data of absolutely ALL play sets must be taken into account, without exceptions. Otherwise, the statistics will not be complete.

In order to do that, at the end of a game, choose the settings mode for all the headbands and place them near the smartphone that controls them.

In the main program menu, choose the Statistics icon and click on Add a game. In the window that opens enter the name of a game and the date on which it will be held. When all the available players appear on screen, click on Collect statistics and the program will send requests to the headbands and read the data.

In a report that will be created, both the personal statistics and the statuses of each of the players and the overall info on teams will be displayed.

You will find still more information on the subject on our official website page. There, you will also find the additional equipment that will add variety to your games – sights, laser tag grenades, mines, control points and a lot more.
