In 2018, the international laser tag tournament has finally come back to its homeland. Since 2012, we’ve come a long way from Smolensk; we fought on the Alabino tank polygon, polished our tactics and strategy in Mokshino, scraped through the thicket of the Khotkovo game polygon. Throughout all these years, the ‘Maneuvers’ have always been associated with the LASERWAR brand. In 2018, the event was visited by 407 players. Traditionally, the event gathered the participants from different cities and countries. A sports tournament, a scenario game, an obstacle course, a fire show – we wanted every player to take with him a part of the big history that would be remembered forever. The game battles have ended, reviews have been written, and we are eager to share the way that we, the organizers, see how these 3 difficult and intensive days went. PREPARATION At first, though, a few words about the preparation. What is the major factor in organizing an event? That’s right – it’s the place. We looked into lots of options and compiled a whole list of polygons that were suitable for holding a big laser tag game. Then we picked the best option. In 2018, the abandoned military quarters of Gusino village. It wasn’t easy to obtain access to that polygon. Lots of approvals from the Ministry of Defence, letters of notice to the FSB, to the police. We had to come to an arrangement with all these security agencies so as to avoid any problems. We did an excellent job here. The players had a gorgeous polygon with buildings, a forest, good roads, and conveniently located respawns. The work was in full swing after that: drafting the map, frequent trips to the polygon, establishing the camping site, gaining approvals from the local administration, ordering marketing materials -– this is just a fraction of the issues that have to be settled during the process of preparation for the event every year. We kept on working over weekends, too: we answered players’ questions, considered suggestions, published materials in the official group. This year, we aimed to provide as much information on the scenario and game interaction between the devices. For we were preparing a complex scenario game with 3 opposing groups. Therefore, it was important to us that every participant was prepared for the severe confrontation. we are jumping slightly ahead, though. SPORTS TOURNAMENT AND OBSTACLE COURSE 10 June is the official start. On the very first day, the players could sense the atmosphere of the forthcoming event: the uncompromising sports tournament and the obstacle course put everyone’s endurance to a test. The participants towed a car, crawled underneath barbed wire and fought for every centimetre of the game field. In the sports tournament, different age categories, the results were as follows: Group 2 1 place - Alliance 2 place - Yunarmejtsy 25 Group 3 1 place - Spets 2 place - Veggies 3 place – Stk Top Gun Group 4 1 place – Dream Team 2 place – Omega Laserdog 3 place – Alfa Laserdog All the winners were awarded medals, LASERWAR prizes and received acknowledgement of the players who have been participating in laser tag competitions for quite some time. Year after year, we see how the international laser tag tournament has been evolving from a scenario game into something bigger. 2016 was noted by the Hunger Games. In 2017, there was a whole complex of entertainments, including an aerial lift and trampolines. This is just the beginning. we understand that one scenario game is not enough for the players. The international laser tag tournament is a festival to which whole families come, where old friends meet each other and where new acquaintances are made. Next year, we are planning to enhance our entertainment program. The scenario part will remain the central element of the event. Yet besides the big game, there are going to be new enjoyable stages. Changes are going to be introduced to the tournament. Once again, we are concentrating on a sports tournament that has a well-defined set of rules, refereeing, and an area on inflatable figures. Yet next year, we want to revise the format and veer to sports and military elements. We are sure that new laser tag stars will shine on the award pedestal in 2019. SCENARIO GAME AND FIRE SHOW The scenario game of the international laser tag tournament always puts players’ endurance and will to win to a test. This time was not an exception. Hundreds of players carried out tasks, sabotaged, cut the enemy in the rear, guarded their key objects for 14 hours. We need to point out that the scenario was closely linked to the game characters. Laser tag fighters had not only to capture the scenario ‘genetics’, but also to interrogate them and then accompany them to the required destination. What made the scenario game a memorable experience? By the fireworks, play devices, engineers, doctors and the third party that took part in the made-up conflict. With the help of the ‘greens’, we aimed to create the pressure that all the players could feel. The South and the North didn’t have even a second for rest and for lunch. When the hot June weather, the equipment and the difficult tasks are taken into consideration, you will be able to get the picture of the work load every participant of the ‘Maneuvers’ coped with. All the teams fought to the last ditch, all did their best and achieved final results in the combat tasks set for them. The battle resulted in a draw – it corresponds to the principles of the event and the number of points earned. A few words about the night phase of the game. It’s no secret that this is the most dangerous phase of a scenario part. The risk of getting a trauma is very high, especially during intensive game collisions. Therefore, we limited the number of players from the start. According to the plan, respawn locations had to be changed for the night phase, the polygon area decreased, play maneuvers had to be localized under the control of the organizers. As we didn’t get the sufficient number of players, we decided to do without the night phase. Yet to pay due respect to the participants, we decided to hold a small game round the control points. That wasn’t as we had planned, but we realised that we had to consider the wishes of our our laser tag fighters. As a result, the night phase did happen. That wasn’t the main scenario, though, that had been approved initially. We hope we have made it clear on this phase of the game. We want to note separately about the Fire Show. Such mini performances have an overall positive impression from an event. The musical arrangement, the adeptness of actors, and the fascinating flame – can any other laser tag event boast such a delightful bonus? Probably, only the Maneuvers can. PROFITABILITY AND POSITIONING Maneuvers have always been unprofitable events. This is a fact. Our team organizes it not for the sake of money. We have taken on this project and we know what it means to be responsible to the society. We hold this event every year. Our players would have to pay a lot more for the service they receive at our event, which costs them just 500 roubles per day. Besides, there are simply no other events of such a scale on the map of laser tag games. Clearly, it is not only the participation fee that is forms a trip to an MLT. You will have to pay for transportation, petrol, plane/train tickets, return trip. When we talk about the cost of participation, we consider all these. We aim to make sure that you get the cheapest ticket possible. We give discounts, too. We also want all players to understand that our expenses on Maneuvers are not calculated by the formula ‘firewood+water+toilets’. They include salaries to our staff, petrol, business trips, camp arrangement, purchasing any extra essentials, the work of designers and production artists. All these need to be considered when evaluating our expenses. This event does not bring us any profit. We are not trying to blame players for this, there is just something that we know for sure: if we stop organizing MLTs, no one else will ever do it. This is a fact of life. We do a big event and we feel that we are still at the beginning. The Maneuvers must become a major event, which can be attended by families with kids. An event at which one can play laser tag, participate in a tournament, navigate a series of physical obstacles, play volleyball, attend an acoustic concert, sit around a bonfire and find out about new laser tag industry developments. This event is for those who are interested, who are not afraid of difficulties and ready to overcome any obstacles. To avoid ambiguity in interpretations, the name of the event will be changed to ‘International Laser Tag Festival’. No pitfalls. Honest and straightforward. We’ll be waiting for all those who enjoys big games and active recreation. PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR What is most difficult about holding an event of such a level? It is hard to change the location every single time. It is impossible to avoid mistakes at a new place. Cognition comes through work. Different things can influence the way an event is organized: the map, whether the place is familiar or not, whether the teams are equal. To achieve high standard levels, one needs to hold the events at a familiar place for several years in a row. And we have already mentioned earlier that we have found such a place. All the participants have noted the enormous potential of the Gusino polygon and we can assure you: next year, we will realise this potential to the maximum. We have created 47 notes based on your reviews and we have made a project of the event. All your wishes regarding fireworks, the scenario and characters have been taken into consideration. Due attention will be given to delegating responsibilities to the organizers. We understand how many people we need and at which points they will be located. We will simplify the job of explaining tasks to the generals, create videos of special briefings, so that one can watch them several times. Changes will be done to scenario games, where single player and team quests will be introduced: each participant will be able to feel what he has done to help his team win. We are sure that the IFL 2019 will become an annual event as much important and as much anticipated as is MLT 2018. MANEUVERS RESULTS AND CRITICISM THE Maneuvers ended with a final line up, the announcement of results and the final words of the generals of each side. The organizers would like to thank the participants, team captains, generals. It’s nice to see everyone again at the biggest laser tag event for so many years. Thanks to you, guys, MLTs have remained the most spectacular, discussed large-scale event. It is no secret to anyone that all the big battles are the creation of players. A few words on critical notes. Year in and year out, the event is criticized basically by same people. In 90% of cases, these people do not visit the international laser tag tournament. And still, they do write a review. We do not consider the opinions of those who just want to earn likes and blab in social networks. Some people, though, share constructive criticism. And we are grateful to them for noting the things that need improvement. Those players are interested in making MLTs better. All these people follow same rules, and we don't think this to be a coincidence: — Praise publicly – criticize privately; — As you criticize, offer a suggestion; — Criticize strictly to the point. Performance, style, comfort – these three features form the basis of all new LASERWAR devices. Every idea is discussed and tested. Does this take a lot of time? It does. Yet we are not in a position to give away ‘raw’ products. It takes us long to release our developments, which keep our laser tag players happy for many years. Our method works and there is plenty of evidence to support this. Speaking about sights, we have always acknowledged the fact that these are among the most important elements of a laser tag blaster. Why? Because all the attention is drawn to a scope and so it is our incentive to make it look as authentic as possible. When designing the Prism, we ensured that it looks exactly like real silencers. The tagers that come with such sights do not look like toys, while our company logo won’t leave anyone indifferent. As to the new operating system, we have gone even further. A few months on, we received detailed test protocols and on the basis of the test results, we applied for a safety certificate for our Parallax optical system. This official procedure took us almost half a year. Yet this was not wasted time – we invested it into your safety. This is not something one can save on. The new scope is absolute safe for eyes. This is not an unsupported claim – our Parallax has a safety certificate, and we are not going to hide it from you. It can be found on our website. Characteristics and figures Let’s move on to the most interesting part. Everyone’s curious about figures. Nearly every year we record the results of distance and precision tests, thus we show what marks LASERWAR tagers have achieved. The year of 2018 won’t be an exception. Strictly speaking, we have carried out lots of tests and checks which show that the hit spot of the Parallax is on average 3 times smaller than that of the scopes that were released earlier. As to distance, it will increase thanks to the new operating system. Some may say that Prism was fine anyway, so why increase the distance even further? We have an answer to this. Distance is the key indicator used to differentiate between laser tag and other military and sports games. This parameter is regulated by means of the LASERWAR configurator, which is the advantage of laser tag. This means that you can always choose the required values for a comfortable game. Compared to Prism, the distance has increased by 25-50%. Next week, we will tell and show more about this in our videos. Due to the regulated positioning of the emitter, the number of ricochets has decreased several times. When playing inside premises, all one needs to do is adjust the shot power parameter, no problems whatsoever. More attentive players will immediately notice the decrease of ricochets in Parallax: this parameter can hardly be measured, yet according to physics laws, ‘the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection’. When the diameter of a spot becomes smaller, the area of ricochets gets proportionally smaller, too. Replacement cost and market launch When will the new scope become available for the buyer? The official market launch will be on 1 August. A play set with the new scope will cost 770 roubles more compared to the Prism. Video reports are already being assembled, they will be published in a few days. We are not going to try your patience anymore, and so we are presenting the first production models of tagers with the Parallax. All-in-all, the majority of weapon models that come fitted with Prism, can be completed with Parallax if the client wishes so. Yet some models will only come with the new scopes. It is a compact laser tag SMG based on the APR 9 airsoft model by G&G. the constructors used the AR-15 construction, added an extended magazine for a 9 mm pistol cartridge, a short barrel with an M-LOCK handguard and a foldable stock and received a compact and comfortable submachine gun – an ideal CQB weapon. There are no prototypes of this model in the world of real combat weapons. Still, it has the right to be, for AR-15 platform weapons for 9 mm cartridges are quite popular in the world. Optical system The new Parallax optical system fitted well inside the barrel jacket without altering either its dimensions or the outer look of the device, thus keeping the producer’s design unchanged. The exceptional precision, distance and reliability of the new scope make the SPARK an ideal weapon for fleeting close combat within small area or inside premises. Sights and rails The top part of the M-LOCK handguard and of the receiver are represented by one large rail used for mounting any sight or aim finder. The common back sight and foresight have been placed on it, too. Besides the fact that the common sights are removable (they can be easily removed from the rail), they can be also folded so as not to be in the way of a mounted sight. The flip back open foresight is at the front section of the barrel jacket. The foldable dioptre back sight is above the pistol grip. The foresight and the back sight have comfortable level and distance adjustment units. Stock and trigger action The foldable stock has two fixed positions: short for point shooting and long for sight shooting. The stock is compact and comfortable. The locking lever is at the bottom of the stock, behind the pistol grip. The ergonomic anatomically shaped pistol grip is comfortable to hold with one’s hand. The wide trigger guard makes it possible to wear gloves when shooting. The trigger operates flawlessly. Over the pistol grip, at the stock base, there is a sling swivel for one-point belt. It’s really hot at INNOPROM today. A few hundred people are queuing at the entrance of the International Exhibition Centre Ekaterinburg EKSPO – it is the second day of the industrial exhibition devoted to digital technologies. Those who wish to get in have to queue for up to half an hour, but that doesn’t put the visitors off. Just as usual, there are lots of guests around our stand. Every guest receives maximum attention, we tell them about laser tag and answer all sorts of tricky questions about our equipment. Some visitors have specially come to the exhibition hoping to see the recently announced Parallax scope models and tenth generation equipment. Unfortunately, we ought to disappoint them – we are currently doing the final acceptance trials of our new equipment developments before production launch, so they haven’t been presented at the exhibition. The company’s vast equipment arsenal hardly ever leaves anyone indifferent. The realistic game sets – many of them based on combat weapons – call for shedding off a dozen years and joining the captivating game of laser tag. There are quite a lot of people at the exhibition today, same as during the past days, though. During this time, our united stand of the Smolensk oblast, organized through the good offices of Smolensk Oblast Export Support Centre, has been visited by lots of guests, including quite a few foreign delegations and officials. Both Russian and foreign participants of the exhibition find Laserwar equipment for tactical games interesting. Nikolay Nikolayevich Tsukanov, President Vladimir Putin's plenipotentiary envoy to the Northwestern Federal District, approached our stand to try out our blasters yesterday. Besides, negotiations with Russian and foreign customers and Russian sales representatives abroad took place at the stand. Participating in an event of this scale – delegations from 95 countries take part in it – will allow us to find new partners and create perspective bonds both with clients and the sales reps of the countries where laser tag is becoming more and more popular. Today the exhibition complex has been flooded with visitors since the very morning. When compared with the first day, there are several times more guests today. And this is not out of idle curiosity; experts are attentively examining new products, many of which have not been demonstrated to the general public yet.  Can you imagine what will be going on here, when the exhibition opens for mass viewing?  At our stand it is crowded too, as usual, we have to answer lots of questions, as the weapons theme is close to everyone, and everybody loves to play. There are many foreign delegations from almost all over the world.  A group of army specialists was interested in detailed technical characteristics of the presented equipment samples.  In general, despite the abundance of real weapons around, game sets invariably spark interest of visitors. Many of them are clearly not averse to run and shoot.  And in spite of the fact that today is official delegations day, no exhibition can do without children. Today began for us with a pleasant surprise – a solemn awarding of the diploma of the exhibition «Army 2018» participant signed by S. It features an intuitive interface and a user-friendly tile design. Thanks to this, the user can easily navigate in all sections of the configurator. We tried to make the program not only attractive but also convenient for daily use. Thus, the configurator allows you to change the weapons settings online, without the need for additional manipulations with the equipment. Just turn on the weapon, and the options available for changing in a particular game set are displayed on the computer screen. Day by day LASERWAR has been working to increase the product range. We offer our customers not only time-tested classics, but also non-standard game models, as well as exclusive taggers, made to order. This time we present you a new version of the model ARP 9 «Spark». It should be reminded that this is a compact tagger based on the same-name airsoft model by G&G company. At its core is AR-15 design to which we added a short barrel with M-LOCK foregrip and an extensible buttstock. In the new version, the familiar «Spark» got a «drum»-type box magazine. Magazine from the manufacturer G&G is made of black plastic. It is attached to the place of the standard extended magazine for 9mm pistol cartridge. Our designers have hidden a speaker inside the magazine. Its holes are placed on the inner side of the box so that the powerful sounding is directed towards the player. On the same side, there is an indicator, which lights up green when you turn on the tagger. It should be noted that the box magazine increases the weight of the sub-machine gun. With this addition, the "Spark" will weigh 2.1 kilos instead of the habitual 1.8. Despite this, the tagger remains an ideal close combat weapon. Responsibility for that lies on the latest optics "Parallax", which is notable for high accuracy of hit. In addition, the size of the "Spark" is still compact – just 50 cm in length with the buttstock folded and 59 cm with the unfolded one. An owner of the updated tagger gets enlarged ammunition - such an enemy is dangerous to be met on the battlefield. There is no need to talk about the appearance – the model has become even more brutal and aggressive than before. For owners of outdoor laser tag clubs it is no longer a secret that tagger dynamics belong to the category of consumables. Need for bright and powerful sounding does not allow reliable isolation of the speaker in the tagger body from the external environment– it simply will not be heard. This week in Smolensk, the IV regional socio-economic forum «Territory of development» has been held. Representatives of authorities, public organizations, business community, federal experts, heads of large enterprises, figures of science and art – total more than 400 persons, attended it. Among them – the Governor of the Smolensk Oblast Aleksey Ostrovskiy and CEO of «Agency for Strategic Initiatives» Svetlana Chupsheva. Also among the participants was LASERWAR delegation.  The main purpose of the forum is to ensure a constructive dialogue between officials, businessmen, representatives of public organizations and experts in various activities. Participants of the «Territory of development» share their opinions, discuss the economic and social opportunities of the region and collaboratively seek innovative solutions to existing problems. Within the forum, thematic platforms were working, where issues like the export potential of Smolensk business, investment and business climate development in the region, protection of intellectual property were discussed. Business program participants attended workshops and trainings.  LASERWAR CEO Sergey Tereschenkov made a presentation at one of the thematic sites. He shared with the forum participants how the company managed to conquer foreign markets and export laser tag equipment to 76 countries around the world. Sergey Tereschenkov gave the benefit of his experience in promoting his own brand and noted the factors that play a crucial role in attracting Western buyers.
